Are you looking for a fun project that can show off your creativity, and transform a piece of furniture into something fun and new again? You don’t have to have a lot of knowledge in carpentry to revive an old piece of furniture, and if you mess up, you can simply distress it and go for a more rustic look!
Fun Ways to Re-purpose Old Furniture
1.Rustic Planter –You can enhance any backyard space by painting an old bedroom side table with a fun color. You might also consider pulling out the drawer, and using it as a planter.
2.Kitchen Island – Have you always dreamed of having a kitchen island? It might just be easier than you had thought! Get creative and transform an old dresser into a kitchen island by adding a custom countertop. The drawers will come in handy also.
3.Crib Appeal – Baby cribs can be re-purposed in so many neat and creative ways! We all need more storage. Take off one of the side rails of that old crib and add a piece of glass or butcher block on top to make a cool bookcase or craft table.
4.Wood or Door Headboard –Reuse those old wooden doors by creating a custom headboard for a guest bedroom. Paint white or multi-colors for a country chic look. You can also use wood slats or hardwood flooring to make a simple and rustic headboard.
5.Vanity Transformation –Remove the backing from an old dresser, add a sink, and you have a cool vanity for your bathroom.
6. Pallet Board Furniture –Reuse pallet boards by taking them apart to make tables, chairs and other accent pieces. This can be a fun and inexpensive project.
7.Pet Bed –Every pampered pet needs a bed. A drawer from an old dresser makes a cool pet bed. Attach some short furniture legs and add a cushion for indoor or outdoor use.
If you have some time on your hands and old furniture to get rid of, maybe you can re-purpose them and spruce up your décor at the same time with these fun ideas.
