Trust is Like an Eraser…

trust

To put your trust in someone means that you believe that they will be there for you. You have a firm belief in their reliability, truth, ability and strength. But what happens when someone betrays your trust? What happens when that friend or that person that you look up to all of a sudden has done something that takes the trust and throws it right out the window?

It’s hard dealing with the consequences of broken trust. For without trust no relationship can thrive. Trust is often given freely and people often take it for granted. Once the trust has been broken it can be really hard to mend the relationship. Often times you have to sit down and really evaluate the relationship and what the person has done that has caused you to lose your trust in them.

Many times we blame ourselves for trusting the person in the first place. We might tell ourselves that we were ignorant to have trusted them in the first place, for if we had never let our guard down and freely put our trust in the person we would not be hurting. It’s not your fault. In life we will be mistreated and betrayed by many. While I don’t want to say that it is habit, I must say that not everyone can be trusted and not everyone puts others before themselves. Many times people will do things in the moment, or what they think is best for them. Selfish? Well, yeah…it really can be, however not everyone thinks about the future or the consequences that may come from their selfish or hazardous behavior.

Guard your hearts, know that it is not your fault that you have been betrayed, for showing love to others and trusting in others is truly one of the best feelings in the world. While we may be hurt by others, we must remember that what doesn’t kill us only makes us stronger.

If your sensing something is wrong confront it before it’s too late.

A good quote I found says, Betray a friend, and you’ll often find you have ruined yourself.
